Rio and São Paulo - the differences.
Who doesn't know something about the differences between São
Paulo and Rio de Janeiro,
the economic powerhouse of Latin America versus the proverbial
Party Town,
between the place where money is made and where it is spent
in Latin
America?
In the Sunday Supplement of the Journal
do Brasil dated
10th of December
2000 we found quite an entertaining article about clubbers
giving an
excellent insight of the souls of these two cities.
Clubbers from Rio:
1-enliven the dance floor with emotion
2-are naturally independent; they do not go for in-brands
3-love House music
4-Do not spend much money on clothes, do not have any idea
about fashion trends
5-Do not have time for "after hours" and late nights;
since there is a beach awaiting the next morning, why then
spend all night listening to techno?
6-are tanned
7-Complain that there is nothing going on in Rio and always
try to escape to São Paulo for the weekend. (Oddly?)
8-Have a lot of short-term love relationships. Afterwards
the two remain friends.
9-possess disarming humor
10-do not read much; however and of course there is always
the pesky character who has read Death in Venice and
therefore thinks he is 'The intellectual'.
11-live the cosmopolitan culture by talking to everybody in
the in-beer bars at Copacabana.
12-Sunday is beach day, swimming, bicycling or even jogging
13-are always good humored.
Clubbers
from São Paulo:
1-lose precious quality time with a bored face analyzing the
"concept" of the DJ, the "concept" of
the flyer and the "concept" of ...
2-live in cliques, only go out with the same people, only
talk to the same people, a visit to another clique could be
seen as treason
3-like Trance
4-they know the international fashion scene, buy expensive
clothes
5-A Saturday night without "after-hour" and "chill-out"
is not complete. There is nothing else to do on a Sunday.
6-get lots of tattoos
7-Say that Rio is terrible and behind the times, but come
to Rio on every possible long weekend. (Oddly?)
8-Date the same person for a long time and would die
at the thought of someone from Rio taking away their girl/boyfriend.
Say people from Rio are dangerous. With difficulty, once a
relationship is over, the two struggle to remain friends,
separation is always a drama...
9-possess disarming humor
10-Read the most important fashion or music magazines. Not
a thought is given to Thomas Mann and Truffaut.
11-They do not mix. Rich clubber does not talk to poor clubber,
Rock 'n Roll not to House, hairdresser not to waiter, banker
not to farmer etc.
12-Sunday is spent in restaurants. Truly, no exaggeration,
the entire Sunday afternoon is spent in restaurants.
13-have an attitude (But, about what, one asks.)
2)
Pricing Policy
Flight prices listed in our Website or in our new brochures
are the MOST LIKELY prices. Unlike some competitors, we do
not simply list the cheapest "from" capacity
controlled prices. As soon as we receive a confirmed reservation,
we negotiate with the airlines in order to get the best possible
price. The savings are then passed on to the customer.
Early
bookers can often save substantially off the listed prices.
4starBrazil offers
"one-stop-shopping". We'll quote you the best possible
flight price available at the time of booking!
3) The top tours hit list
In case you have been wondering what to book, this may help:
The
Route of
Gold came out on top again. Probably due to the fact
that most people booking with us are returning to Brazil,
and this time want to see more then Rio and Salvador.
The
most popular additions are - also not surprisingly - the Iguassu
& Serra do Mar pre-tour and the Amazon
Jungle Towers post-extension.
4)
Cooperation with travel agencies and our new brochures
Frankly, we are pleasantly surprised how many travel agencies
have an indepth knowledge of Brazil. In our recent survey
we found almost 1000 travel agencies in the US and Canada
dealing regularly with Brazil. For them, we have produced
a new brochure and modified our download version to be more
easily printable.
If you, too, would like a copy of our new brochure...just
let us know or ask your travel agent - they might already
have some!
5)
New toll-free number
From the 3rd of February, we are improving our service
by offering a new toll-free number.
Just
dial 1-866-go4star (1-866-464-7828) to reach us.
6)
Our current specials
And of course never forget to check out our latest specials!
Our sympathy to all Canadians! It seems to be rather chilly
there right now. Almost half of all requests coming in this
January originate from there.
There must be something attractive about tropical heat...
